Ventilation for You (V4U): Detandt-Simon EaaS offering

Ventilation for You (V4U)

Detandt-Simon EaaS offering

In September 2023, the EaaS team interviewed Juan Baldo from Detandt-Simon, on their new EaaS offering in ventilation called V4U (Ventilation for You).

Could you share some more information on your company?

Detandt-Simon is the trusted partner in the resale market of solutions for professionals in the chimney, ventilation, thermal accumulator, and water treatment sectors. For over 35 years, this Montois company has been offering superior quality products, ensuring a seamless experience for its clients in the Belgian, French, Dutch, and Luxembourgish markets. Led by Stéphanie Simon (daughter of the founder, Jean-Pol Simon) and Juan Baldo, the group relies on its 50 employees to achieve a turnover of over 26 million euros in 2022. Constantly seeking innovation, Detandt-Simon has developed a subscription concept for ventilation over the past two years: Ventilation For You, V4U. Through V4U, you have access to an optimal ventilation system without the need for a significant investment. Moreover, we take care of maintenance, upkeep, and the replacement of worn-out parts. Detandt-Simon? We are your solution.

When did you start developing the CaaS offer and why?

The idea of V4U emerged in 2021 at Detandt-Simon. While Juan, the director, realized the technical expertise of his teams and the quality of their products, he encountered instances of poor ventilation system management. There was a company that had invested heavily in a high-performance ventilation system but unfortunately lacked the knowledge to maintain it, resulting in deteriorating air quality and equipment. This was just one example among others. Detandt-Simon sought the expertise of P2S Management Consulting, a firm specialized in conceptualizing and developing subscription models for physical products. After several months of collaboration, the V4U solution was finalized in 2022. Today, the subscription is ready to be offered to the target audience and we hope very soon to have a first project implemented.

What have been (and are) the challenges?

The main challenge lies in conveying the purpose and benefits of CaaS. Explaining and convincing why opting for a subscription model might be more advantageous than a traditional purchase. Additionally, effectively selling the V4U concept.

For which clients and why?

Today, ventilation has become a mandatory standard for numerous professions and locations. Therefore, V4U caters to anyone needing to comply with ventilation standards and lacking either the technical knowledge, investment capacity, or both. Whether it’s for health, energy savings, and consequently, ecology, V4U offers a solution for various individuals or communities. If you need to install a ventilation system but are unsure of what or how to do it, and you prefer not to make a significant investment, Ventilation For You and its subscription service is the solution for you.
