Servitisation for energy efficient food and process industries in the Netherlands (in English)
Session 1: Circular and Performance economies
In the first session Walter R. Stahel introduced the origins, the concept and principles of a circular economy. He explained key definitions which enable comparing linear industrial economy business models to circular models. This set the stage for the performance economy concept, on which Walter provides examples, key drivers, a breakdown of components, that are relevant to industry actors seeking to pioneer and achieve competitiveness through sustainability.
Session 2: Servitisation in practice: AIRPlan
Ilmir Gareev provided unique insights into the AIRPlan compressed air -as-a-service proposition, which is already available in various international markets including the Netherlands. The presentation covers the benefits of servitisation for customers that are unique in comparison to other, more traditional agreement types such as lease or purchasing hardware. Furthermore the proposition is broken down into key components including the pricing structure and its duration, and an explanation is provided how AIRPlan enables maximum flexibility to its end users.
Quotes
“Industrial waste can now be re-defined as manufactured objects without a positive value and without an ultimate liable owner.”
“The drivers of the performance economy are the owner-fleet managers” – Walter R. Stahel (author, professor and advisor on circular economy and associated topics)
“Customers compare the AIRPlan offer with leasing offers, where banks apply fixed periods for leasing. For AIRPlan, we only have a minimum period, which is 15 months. After this period, there is no obligation to stay with this product.” – Ilmir Gareev (Global Product Manager IoT and new businesses at Atlas Copco)
